Those last two pics are awesome! That’s so inspiring that you are able to work around ky ridiculous fire laws. I can’t find any burn days cause the rain won’t stop…and they are “worried” about forest fires.
I’ve spoken to the state forestry commission twice about this issue. I was like arguing with a guy who believes once a spike always a spike. There was zero willingness to adapt to new research on the effectiveness of fire in upper hardwood forest

Speaking of, how are your neighbors? I don’t know how many acres you have but I gather it’s pretty big. But to grow deer consistently like that it seems neighbors on the same page would be absolutely necessary. Just curious

I feel like cedars are a nuisance but easily managed. Autumn olives are the true spawn of satans garden. I have so many and it’s like playing whack a mole. Every time I think I kill one, 5 more pop up. Good luck.
I think timing of the fire would be more conducive and frankly practical to getting a savanna started if that is your goal. Dormant season fires typically result in grass regrowth and growing season forbs. If it is one of your dreams, you are very close to realizing it so I wouldn’t give up this...
