Drought and Survival

Gonna go to extremes today Okie. We have a slight chance for isolated storms this afternoon, I’m gonna spray a plot. SURELY that will make it rain soon after!!!:D
You should have had rain over Labor Day weekend? I invited a bunch of friends over for a Labor Day picnic yesterday evening. that was all it took to break out of our drought of several weeks with no rain, and it's still raining over the entire Midatlantic region this morning, all due to our picnic:)

Drought of several weeks??? I know you’re being facetious, but that’s no drought. ;)

It was all of August, but we had a 5/8" in the middle that didn't really help a lot. But we didn't have nearly the drought that you guys are having:(

BIG temperature change coming on Sunday if only temporary, hopefully it will bring some rain with it. We’ll take anything, but nothing short of 2 or 3” is going to do much. We need a week of solid rain to set in, I’d take 10” and flooding in a heartbeat if we could get it.

I guess I should have looked at the forecast before I typed that, of course they wait til 2 days out and change the forecast to remove the chance of rain, they’ve been doing this for months now. And like an idiot, I fall for it all the time. Speaking of idiots, do meteorologists even go to school? We went from 50 to 2% chance overnight.

Here they never even put in a chance for this weekend...maybe a new strategy because every time they say for sure rain we get nothing so if they say no chance the opposite will happen?

I’ve been promoting that line of thinking for a while, it has yet to actually work for us, but who knows?

Flooding in California, soaker in the NE, flooding in the SE. Bring the floods here!!!!!!!!!
We have now entered the worst local drought of my lifetime, that’s almost half a century btw…

We’ve gotten almost 9” of rain in the last 3 days at one property and almost 6” at another. We didn’t need any of it and would gladly give you all of it. The weather gods are truly cruel sometimes.

It has been freaking pouring in NE Kansas all day AGAIN! And we can’t get the dust settled.

How in the world can a front be coming from the West, but all the moisture be heading from South to North??? Bizarro world here in SE Kansas…

They’re trying to take away our “chance” for rain next week now.
98 days now without significant rainfall, a grand total of 2.2” of rain in that time at our house and 1.8” at our property.

Just did some reading on the most recent Kansas drought information. It says the drought conditions are expected to persist through November per Climate Prediction Center. What the heck is that?
Just did some more reading and it’s a federal agency. Most federal agencies are inept and clueless, so hopefully they have no idea what they’re talking about.

Saw some deer tonight while hunting with Dawna, so that was fun. Had an interesting conversation with her dad afterwards. He’s a part of the watershed board. I guess we’re in more dire straights than I realized. There’s about to be quite a battle it appears. The town we live 5 miles from, Caney, has 6 weeks of water left they’re estimating, if everyone adheres to the water restrictions. After that the town is up a dry creek-bed, so to speak. They are trying to get the watershed board to release more water, but those who own the land the watersheds are on might not be willing. In the meantime, they are estimating it would take 7” of rain in a short time to put the river back where it needs to be. That’s not gonna happen, so our girls might not be going to school in 6 weeks. The fun goes on!
