    CWD confirmed in Kentucky

If you keep testing for something long enough, you’re going to prove it’s there. My belief is that it’s been here for a very long time but we haven’t been testing for it until recently.

    Solo Hand Spreader

RGrizzzz…Have you used the Hooyman spreader yet? If so, could you give pros and cons? I’m in the market for a new spreader to broadcast clover seed and it looks like the shoulder harness would be a welcomed addition so it doesn‘t eat into the shoulder.

Soybean Rating For High Deer Density

With a cold and wet May I got a late start. I sprayed gly at 2 quarts per acre 2 weeks ago and most of the plots were dry enough to plant this past Friday on the 26th. I know this is later than most have planted but the weather never got right to plant any earlier. I went ahead and planted at...

    Beating Cool Season Grasses

Since you’ve been in a drought for so long I would think you could get a farmer to bale it for hay. Then You could spray it with gly a week after removal and then could at least get seed to soil contact. Broadcast buckwheat just before a rain and plant something this fall and not have the...

That’s got to be a costly mistake on there end. I hope you documented all the planted trees that you lost and get reimbursed for your time and labor. At least you didn’t lose any buildings.

Soybean Rating For High Deer Density

I read his thread and I looks like he had success on 3.5 acres, so I’m going to give it a try. Worst case is they won’t make it any better than they did before.

Soybean Rating For High Deer Density

I found a source for a forage type roundup ready bean and was going to use those For reasons stated above.

Soybean Rating For High Deer Density

I don’t want to go the e-fence route due to I don’t live on the farm I hunt and I have bears to deal with also, so corn is probably out as well. I thought about planting a mix like you say and have found a source for that same mix with millet added to it for $56 a bag which will plant an acre...

Soybean Rating For High Deer Density

One is 2 acres and the other is 3 acres. I could plant three 1 acre plots but I know they wouldn’t have a chance to do much.

Soybean Rating For High Deer Density

I have drilled soybeans before at 50 pds acre and they only get 6”-8” tall with a few pods. I‘m thinking of planting at a rate of 75-100 pds acre. Will a higher rate be worth it with high deer density area? Looking for pod production.

I’ve been looking at those soybeans. Could you give a little more detail in your results? Efence, broadcast, drilled, pod holding into winter, etc.?

    The Massey

With the drought you had this year, how in the world did you get any beans to make pods? I’m assuming that’s what the deer were after unless you planted grains in the stubble?

    Upgrading A Golf Cart

I still haven’t justified that electric is the way to go with having to cross 2 streams and not ruining the motor if it gets wet. Not from the depth of water but the splash from crossing the stream.

    Plans For 2023

Are you getting any bean pods with forage beans or are you just feeding the deer during the summer? I was actually thinking about planting some type of RR ag bean at the double planting rate. You think that might work with higher deer density without a efence and still get pods?

    Plans For 2023

I’ve noticed our weather patterns are pretty much identical with the exception of when the rain splits around your area, I usually get a rain. That being said, temps are just a couple degrees difference between the both of us. I’m going to try frost seeding this winter as well for the first time...
