I use vacuum seal bags for storage but the ones I have are too noisy for getting dressed in the field so I use the Stor-All XXL zip locks from Dollar general. They are about 24"x24" and the XL bags for smaller items.

No. Planted in March 2019. I had 3 make it through the First year and into the late spring, they were about 6-8 “ tall. But we went from drought to flood, all the rain came at once and then nothing. Then worms defoliated them and this one made it. So t will be 2 in March.

I had always heard they were a white oak that needed stratification like a red oak. I always just put them in with the shumards I collected from the same spot. All I know is they do very well in the crappy soil I’m attempting to grow trees in and I’m impressed with that.

That’s pretty much the way I do it. This year I’m going to direct seed into tubes cut to about 18”. Then fence them in as they grow. Not going to put any in grow bags at all. I haven’t tried direct seeding yet. Looking forward to see if they establish at a higher percentage.
