I feed protein but I love seeing them out in the clover.

I like those plots, since I have a love affair with clover plots for deer. No planting gives you so much for so little. A good ladino plot can be a bit hard to start, but once they are established they are a gift that doesn't stop giving.

yes sir, I love clover and so do the deer. Best bang for your buck long term and not hard to maintain. All these clover plots will be left untouched unless I mix in a little aeschynomene in them for summer variety and a little grass control which I did last week with some cleth. In about 3 weeks I will start planting my summer plots of Sunn hemp, Iron and clay peas, forage beans, alyce clover and aeschynomene.

Hand sprayed this plot with cleth to control the grass. It worked really well.

Ladino clover. I didn’t spray this one. Going to let it grow up as a test to provide a little shade for the clover for when the heat comes. I might regret it but we will see.

I sure wish I could get them all this thick and lush right now. I have a feeder right here also but I get more deer eating the clover with all this great green up than I do eating the protein which is my goal anyway. I would much prefer them to eat my plots than the protein. It’s a lot easier on the wallet.

I had a member get this one on camera last month. I let him walk in November and I am glad he made it through the season.
