Nothing more here either. 1/4” isn’t going to trim off my significant rain day counter. Up to 50 days now.

What the heck happened to our deluge???
Western Kansas continues to be the new oasis and we’re the desert…..Sooooo frustrating!

You gotta stop thinking about it. The more frustrated you get, the bigger the forcefield over your farm will become.

Lol, you're speaking from experience I'm sure. We've all been there many times. I know the futility of getting frustrated, but this is really the only place I can vent. I do not vent to ranchers or farmers, they would look at me with disdain, they have so much more invested. My wife isn't interested in my venting. So that leaves me my fellow hunters and deer habitat nerds.;)

This drought has me really thinking about the future. This is yet another year that heavy rain simply shut off, it seems to be happening earlier too. We have several fruit trees really struggling here at home. One kieffer pear is toast I’m pretty sure. This tree was planted 4 years ago and is over 12’ tall. The chestnut trees are beginning to struggle and it looks like we’ll lose at least one apple if I don’t begin watering. All of these trees should be established by now. I don’t want to have to take care of them from here on out and this new summer climate is seemingly becoming the norm. Should I simply let them die?

Drought is the worst. It’s an awful, helpless feeling. We were actually in a pretty bad one here until a few weeks ago. The worst was in 2012 - it was soul crushing.

Hang in there - one day you will be pissed at all the rain you are getting.

I remember ‘11 and ‘12. It was awful, EHD ran rampant here. I’ve never complained about rain, it’s too precious a commodity, even when it’s flowing too freely.

Well, as nice as this reprieve was, it has hardly been a drought breaker. The heaviest rains didn't stay north this time, but south. My sister-in-law who lives in Miami, OK, got big rain out of this. I'll need to decide how long to wait before I begin watering trees again. In sheer volume, an inch of rain is a huge amount of water, but I honestly don't know how deep it gets, or how long it remains in the soil before it's either drunk up by vegetation or released back into the atmosphere with the high temps that are coming again this week. I'll need to post something on the fruit tree forum soon to find out.

All told we got 1.5” here at whitetail hollow. On our other place down mid county where we are going to put the cows next weekend we got nearly 3”. Amazing the green that came up over the past 3 days. Now back to 100’s...

We didn’t get quite enough to green things up much unfortunately. I’m very glad you got that rain, your pics didn't paint a pretty picture!

Back to watering trees last night, what I saw was telling. The drought is still going strong.
