SC Kansas

Heres another view of the same field that red neck is in just the west end. This strip of NWSG blocks some of the view from west to east but the strange thing is the deer walk around the end of it.I never saw a deer walk through it and it's maybe 10ft widenorth field1.jpg

Here is a pic that is some chickisaw plum patches and oaks along with cedars that I planted .This used to be ag then I put to grass then mixed in some trees and shrub plots. All these trees except the big mulberry I planted that are on this side of the field. Some of the oaks are probably 20ft and 12 years old. Then theres the swamp it's 30 acres that attaches to one corner of the main farm and has about 5 acres of water and several duck blinds. We also harvested 2 bucks of a food plot that is on one end of itswamp.jpg

I bet if you drive through that 10' grass strip a couple of times to get a path started that the deer will use it (looks pretty thick, I would run around it too). Or plant a couple of fruit trees in it without cages... that will get them in it!

Yes I bet they would,I will probably make a path next year as there won't be turnips planted along that strip.I swear the only thing that eats turnips are the neighbors that ask me to bring them a bucket full every now and then. That area will be in beans next year.I have fruit trees all through this field along with oaks and chestnuts. You can see big oak with leaves still on.I planted that tree when I bought it discounted after planting season from a nursery and there are several more along there.I think I will put a ladder stand in it and try to shoot a doe out of a tree I planted before seasonis out.

They don't eat my turnips either. I haven't successfully planted any for a couple of years. Might try again someday. Beans ALWAYS work though.

Would be pretty cool to shoot a deer from a tree you planted. I could do that from trees my dad planted but not my own yet.

I planted Real World oats this year and they have kept it mowed down,Heres the 29th gopher I have caught. This one wasn't in my orchard but I do have 1 showing up so he will get his soongopher.jpg

For some reason it won't let me load these 2 pics like they are saved, not many beans left, but there is still winter wheat, and oats. Also turnips if they get really hungrysoybeans.jpg

Oats or soybeans? My soybeans are regular ag beans but I will plant ignite ready this year so I can control pigweed and marestail.Heres a pic of my oatsoats.jpg

I still have been getting some scrape tree action, one is a horizontal rub.If you haven't seen ted miller on utube he has some good videos ,Well it won't let me upload a picture I will try again later

Our deer aren’t fans of Ted’s horizontal rubs, but we’ve had pretty good luck with scrape branches coming off buried landscape timbers.

I have been trying Buck Fever synthetic deer scent and some have rubbed it.I have my best luck using scotch pine limbs on landscape timbers or wiring limb to any kind of tree

It's really cold here and I bet the bucks are shedding soon as last year I found my first on the 8th.Bucks are still breaking points.Heres a few buck pics including 1 that looks like he lost an eye. That makes 3 that had a bad eye injury. One recoverejan64.jpg jan69.jpg d but the other 2 have not.

Yeah it's COLD! A buddy and I are going to scout some public tomorrow on my day off, the Mrs thinks we're crazy.
