"The Cabin"

This isn't so much a property tour as I only have about 5 acres but more of the cabin history. Had this video at qdma a long time ago. figured it would be a good starting point. more to follow

I have never seen this video of this cabin until now. What a wonderful trip down memory lane - love the song being part of it.

When I was young in the 1960's I got a chance to hunt at a cabin a cousin built with my dad and other guys between my age and my dad's age. Those memories are priceless.

John I would love to know who your dad was in photos and who you were in photo. Is the jeep we see the one you are restoring?

I build a hunting cabin in 1990 in the middle of the woods - you couldn't drive to it. I had to tear it down in 2014 due disrepair and my father-in-law wanted it gone. My son was 11 when I built it and 36 when I tore it down.

Hunting cabins are a love of mine. Thanks for sharing your video. It made my day!:)

Thats awesome! My moms family is from NE Pa. Its funny how similar everyone looks to the old pics I have of Grandfathers, cousins, uncles, etc... Right down to the big gallon jug of red wine on the table and the checkerboard wool suits!!

John - I am glad you are continuing on with your thread. You have a lot of history with that place and I think it is great that you have all of those memories with your dad from there...keep it up!

I see now why that jeep has so much memory and all the sweat you are putting into it---awesome.

You got your dad's hair:D

This is 1969 right after my father built it

I'm guessing 1975 ish he built a foundation next to the cabin and pulled it on with his pickup, then an addition was built

As my father got older he lost interest and it sat many years without using, this is what it looked like when I took it over around 1999
the back wall was falling out almost a ft and the roof was starting to fall in

What she looks like now after many yrs of sweat. I made the log siding out of 2x6 doug fir and my molding machine
as you can see the foundation was never prepped properly and it fell apart. my father built one out of railroad ties. now i'm fighting with a moving cabin and its not fun
