Does this young oak look okay?

The operator thought the spray was 24d, gly, and something called sonic.

Does this young oak look okay?

They were burning down a field to get ready for beans — glyphosate maybe? Can trees recover? What about older trees? Can trees that survive build up an immunity? They’ve been spraying for years and I’ve never had a problem. Since they went away from plane spraying anyway.

That’s EXACTLY what I was thinking!

    Drought and Survival

The final round finally got us overnight, better late than never. Ended up with 1.8". Not a pond filler, but we'll take it. Still need real runoff before summer, or it's gonna be really bad for my in-laws. They still have 4 large ponds that are extremely low and will dry this summer if something...

    Drought and Survival

This line of storms stretches through 3 states; guess where the line ends??? Notice the “flood warning” just to cruelly rub it in…

    Chestnut Production?

I’ve been watering once every five days, and about a quart of water on the entire tray. I guess I’ll let them dry out completely. There is NOTHING easy about this. It’s incredibly frustrating.

    Drought and Survival

We CANNOT FREAKING catch a break!!!!!!!! Two freaking years of this crap, storm after storm after storm…… The dry line is right on top of us literally, the storms are riding it bringing torrential rainfall within 30 miles and NOTHING on us.

Does this young oak look okay?

That’s possible, but the field edge is a good 30 yards from the tree. I didn’t see any evidence on surrounding native vegetation.

    Chestnut Production?

Several of the chestnuts look like they’ve attempted to put on some top growth, but shortly after getting out of the ground, they seem to just give out and die. This happened to several nuts last year, and the failed shoots would sometimes be replaced by another. Is this normal, or am I doing...

Does this young oak look okay?

We’ve obviously been fighting drought, which you all know I’ve documented quite well lol. Is this oak doing okay? Its leaves look a little different than the others. I didn’t label these oaks, so I’m not sure which variety it is.

    Sun Scald on Older Tree?

This silver/red hybrid maple in my folks yard appears to have gotten a strong dose of sun scald this past winter. Am I right on this diagnosis? If so, at what point is a tree no longer in danger? I would have thought a tree this big would not have been susceptible. It is now fully leafed out btw.

    Drought and Survival

Not a drop today, meteorologists are so inept. How can they be so bad at their jobs? I’m guessing tomorrow will be more of the same.

    Drought and Survival

Well, the rain wasn’t quite as widespread as I thought, which I should be used to by now. We got 1.5” here at the house; 13 miles away at the farm we got less than a quarter. :(
