Cone flower - seed collection

I need some help. My folks have some purple cone flower at there place and the heads are drying out and I am interested in collecting some seed for my place. I just plan on scattering it and what grows, grows. How ever I am not sure if this is the best way to collect the seed. Any body ever done this before, and or have any advice?

My folks have them growing in flower beds at their house so access is a piece of cake......and I don;t have any cone flowers currently and would like to add them in my NWSG plantings or where ever they will grow.

Been spreading purple cone flower seed for a few yrs. Just walk along and pull the heads when they are dry. I sometimes separate the seeds to broadcast, or just stomp the whole head into the dirt.

Yank the heads off......you can just squish/crumble them to get the seeds out.

Cool - I thought so.....but sometimes the obvious.....isn't so obvious.
