Stone Branch, build it, they will come.

Thanks guys, that was a busy, fun day. Now I need to stop some procrastinating and get to work on a carcass.

Which buck was that? One you were after or a new one? Congrats!

Thanks cut, he is the buck that I have been referring to as the 6 year old 120" 8pt. He was with me for years. He and Goofy were the bucks that I figured that I might have a chance to kill. They both were given time to reach their potentials as I spent the past 2 years waiting on the big boy.

Awesome!

Your story brought back memories of my red stag hunting days in New Zealand. Having to pack a large animal out of mountains on your back is unforgettable.

I was feeling just a 1000 loaded yards. A bird in hand is better than two birds in the bush, I need help with this, right?

Here is one of the birds still in the bush, a big wide 8, has been for the past three years.

Great job! Forgive me if I've missed another in the past, this is the first buck on the place, right?

So it is opening day and I'm sitting down in the ditch in front of the wood stove with a cup of coffee. The big boy has me pinned down. I guess that I don't know how to set cameras after the time change each day is now starting at noon the previous day. What I can decipher is that the big boy is showing up every day at the end of shooting time and courting the girls till shooting time, up on my ridge top, 7th, 8th, and 9th. The does are hanging up there. So all that I can do for now is provide the big boy with sanctuary. I'm going to sneak up midday and fix cameras.

Tale of the tape, my 8pt scored 126.625 gross and 123.375 net. The meat weighed 83.5lbs making him 175lb+ hanging and around 210lb live. He was plump, pre rut, and tender as can be. I could eat this whole deer raw if I hadn't all ready discovered fire.

So what does a hunter do with himself when he can't go hunting? Well, I just mixed up a fresh batch of Imazapyr and I'm heading for unit D 18 acres in front of me and this won't affect the deer up on the ridge behind me.
