Double A Farm (NE Ohio) Updates

I love to see new plots begin to germinate! Great pictures of the before and after. Your driveway used to be a muddy mess but you took care of that...Looking forward to following along.

Good luck on those plots. I ran bush hog over mine couple weeks back (they were thick) and they are ready to mow again. We are still six or seven weeks out on planting.

Looks good, I know how you like projects you can build a cultipacker for about $100. I have found the one I built to be my most utilized implement.

Definitely on my short list. Yep, always a project going on at the Double A. I put the second overhang on the barn on Monday. Got the gutter installed and rain cistern temporarily hooked up. I'm thinking of framing out an enclosed bathhouse for a shower and moving the composting toilet under there also.

Looks great Weasel. How did you flash around the heater flue? And remind me about the large field around your cabin. Do you plant that?

Nothing yet lak. Duravent makes a special flashing for that chimney pipe. Got one on order.

That bean field is almost 12 acres on my side. It's a continuous 20+ acre field along the road connected to my neighbor who farms commercially. He leases my field and in exchange I have exclusive trespassing/hunting rights on his chunk that abuts my property, our woodlots and back meadows are connected as well.

I've enjoy watching that cabin transformation over time. Place looks great.

Thanks dogghr. I'm still not sure how it will end up. I plan to build a proper conventional cabin someday but I'm happy with what I have in service now and I'll keep adding creature comforts as time and budget allows.

Love your farm and glad to see the kiddos like camping and the outdoors! I lost my hunting spot for this year due to the landowner selling out and it's about to kill me that I don't have a place to hunt.

Shoot, that will be a conventional cabin soon! Looking great. You have really done a lot so far since the beginning.

Thank you gentlemen. I only had time for a one day trip to the farm over the weekend. 40% chance of rain forecasted turned into 100% on my place. Food plots are enjoying it but it made hanging stands tough.

Sunflowers in this bean-sorghum-milo mix are the biggest I have ever gotten. Hoping they continue to leave them alone.

The spotty corn already has some brassicas germinating. I'll be adding rye and oats to these spots too at the end of the month.

Safety first always with tree stands. Use of a linemans belt not only provides safety, it frees up both hands and makes hanging stands a breeze. Couple that with a stand pulley and you're golden.

Sure is nice to have a friend around on a stand hanging day. Here's my buddy Chris trimming shooting lanes.

My daughters ought to get some good jack-o-lanterns out of their pumpkin patch come October.

great updates bud! I am working from the farm this week and boy have we got rain in Ohio this week. I think I am damn near 3inch by now!

Place looks great, any big bucks on camera this year?

Cabin is looking good. Water and showers are a good thing:D Before I ran water to my trailer I used 5 gallon cans and had a Zodi heater/shower that sat on top of a coleman stove for hot water. It had a small battery powered pump and worked well.

I've been using a 5 gallon camp bag shower that you fill & put in the sun. Works fine for the summer but not so much for winter. Looking forward to having something permanent.
